It has come to my attention that there is some confusion as the practice moves to a self-pay model. Letters were sent via the mail 3/13/2025 to all patients. 

Please be aware that if you are an existing patient (meaning you have been to see us since January of 2023) you will not have to pay the $1250 membership fee. That fee applies only to patients who have not been to our office ever or within the past three years. As an existing patient you will pay only a per visit fee which is determined based off what you need to be seen for.

Please note that cash-pay only includes other forms of payment besides cash including check, credit card and Care Credit.

I understand there is shock and confusion within the community as this decision has been made public. We want to assure you that we have not come to this decision lightly. As practicing medicine has become more about insurance companies dictating patient care it is my goal to overcome the challenge and continue to support my patients the best I can.  I strive to continue to provide you with the highest quality of care and a more streamlined experience without the administrative complexities often associated with insurance billing.

By moving to a self-pay model, we will be able to:

• Reduce waiting times for appointments and treatments
• Offer greater flexibility in our services
• Provide transparent pricing with no unexpected hidden fees or surprise bills

Current patients will continue to receive care at our practice and will be provided with competitive pricing options for services. The cost of a visit with Dr. Shoemaker will be between $175 and $420. Pricing for complex treatments and surgical treatments will be determined based on the diagnosis.

We do offer Care Credit to help with payment. We will also provide you with a statement which you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

New patients will be charged a $1250 fee that will cover the first three visits with Dr. Shoemaker. This fee does not apply to existing patients who have been to the office in the past three years.

We want to support you during this transition and will work with you to find solutions that meet your healthcare needs. We understand that this change may come as a surprise, and we encourage you to please reach out with any questions or concerns. We are here to assist you and ensure a smooth transition.
